Allen Say
Allen Say is an author & picture book illustrator. He was born in Yokohama, Japan. He always dreamed of becoming a cartoonist. He was an apprentice to his favorite cartoonist, Noro.
Allen lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and daughter. When Allen first moved to Oregon, he got the opportunity to illustrate Boy of the Three Year Nap.
Allen loves illustrating so much! He won a 1989 Caldecott honor for Boy of the Three Year Nap! He also won the 1994 Caldecott Medal for Grandfather`s Journey!
He uses a Japanese painting style and wrote about some of his experiences. He uses finely detailed pen and ink drawings.
He has published books such as El Chino, Allison, Grandfather`s, Journey, The Bicycle Man, Tree of Cranes and A River Dream.
Allen Say is a very good author/illustrator.
